ABC News promotes Karl, Vega and Llamas as Trump coverage ramps up
ABC News on Monday announced promotions for political correspondents Jonathan Karl, Cecilia Vega and Tom Llamas as the network ramps up coverage of the new Trump administration.
ABC News President James Goldston said in a note to staff that Karl will become the network’s chief Washington and White House correspondent. Karl has covered the White House, Congress, State Department and Pentagon throughout his career at ABC.
The New York-based Vega will move to Washington, D.C., to officially become senior White House correspondent. Vega most recently covered Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign for president last year.
{mosads}Llamas, who was named chief national correspondent, will also serve as sole anchor of the weekend edition of “World News Tonight.” Llamas had been co-anchoring the newscast with Vega while covering President Trump’s campaign.
“We could not be in better hands with this exceptional team, and our brilliant bureau in Washington. Please join me in congratulating Jonathan, Cecilia and Tom on their new roles,” Goldston wrote.
