MSNBC’s Brzezinski takes credit for predicting Flynn would be first to go

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski on Tuesday morning took credit for predicting national security advisor Michael Flynn would be the first senior official of the Trump administration to go.

“Mika, you have been saying all along that Michael Flynn would be the first to go,” said “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough. “You started saying it even before he was sworn in. You said ‘Michael Flynn will be out first.’ ”

Brzezinski said Flynn is in a group of administration officials “that are really not cut out for their jobs.”

“I think this is good news for those who have been concerned that this White House has some people in it that are really not cut out for their jobs and perhaps leading the president astray,” said Brzezinski, the daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski, who served as President Jimmy Carter’s national security advisor from 1977 to 1981.

{mosads}”I think that Flynn had a very, very, too-tight relationship with Donald Trump that also raised questions about the relationship with Russia, which still remains a big question.”

Brzezinski predicted Flynn’s ouster on Dec. 15, during the transition period, after Scarborough raised his “grave concerns” about the retired general’s appointment.

“From the way things go or I’ve seen them. This will take care of itself, but maybe in time,” she said.

“Morning Joe” panelist Steve Rattner, a financier and Hillary Clinton fundraiser in 2016, agreed.

“Often what happens in these administrations, as you know, is that after a year or two there’s a reshuffling,” Rattner said in December. “Sometimes you bring in people you’re so close to you can’t see their flaws. … Usually in a year or two there’s some reshuffling of chairs and this may be one of the ones.”

“There’s such a collective sort of negativity from those inside who are in high level positions so far it’ll take care of itself,” Brzezinski reiterated.

Flynn resigned late Monday after reports he misled senior Trump White House officials about his conversations with Russia.

President Trump has named retired Army Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg as acting national security adviser. Kellogg previously served as Flynn’s chief of staff on the National Security Council.
