Anderson Cooper: I muted Trump on Twitter
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper on Monday night said he has muted President Trump on Twitter to avoid “that drama in my life.”
“I’ve actually muted the president on Twitter,” Cooper told late-night host Stephen Colbert, adding, “Don’t tell him.”
Colbert appeared to be in disbelief, saying: “You just said that you muted the president of the United States.”
“I just don’t want to have that drama in my life,” responded Cooper. “I just want to be calm.”
{mosads}The 49-year-old host of “Anderson Cooper 360” said he felt the president’s tweets are a “large distraction” but do serve as a “real-time seismograph” into his thought process.
“This is like a real-time seismograph of the inner workings of the president’s head,” explained Cooper. “He’s like a live wire of emotion.
“We had to wait for decades to hear Nixon on tapes; we hear Donald Trump in real time.”
Trump hasn’t appeared on CNN since an interview with Cooper in August.
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow told TheWrap.com on Friday that she also avoids the president’s Twitter feed.
“We developed sort of an informal, internal mantra … which is that we basically cover them as if they are a silent movie,” Maddow said. “I stopped covering the Twitter feed and we started covering only what they do rather than what they say.”
