BuzzFeed to go public in 2018: report
BuzzFeed will be going public in 2018, Axios reported Wednesday.
The popular online news and pop culture site has 200 million unique monthly visitors, with 50 percent of them in the millennial 18-to-34-year-old demographic advertisers covet. BuzzFeed is particularly popular among mobile users, which account for almost 70 percent of the site’s traffic.
Four months ago, NBCUniversal announced it was investing another $200 million in BuzzFeed while extending an ad sales partnership between the two media companies.
{mosads}BuzzFeed has more than 1,300 employees across 18 offices worldwide, including in London, Paris, Berlin, Madrid, Sydney, Mumbai, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Mexico City and Toronto. The company opened a new New York City headquarters in 2016.
Last year, BuzzFeed was ranked Fast Money’s #1 Most Innovative Company.
“We are best known for exploding watermelons, The Dress, Tasty, award-winning news investigations, quizzes, and lists,” says BuzzFeed’s “About Us” page.
The company was founded by Huffington Post co-founder Jonah Peretti in 2006.
