Megyn Kelly makes NBC debut, announces Putin interview

Megyn Kelly on Thursday filed her first report for NBC News, appearing on the ”Today” show from Saint Petersburg, Russia, to announce a one-on-one interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“This will be the first time that he’ll be taking questions from an American journalist since the special council was appointed in the United States to look into allegations of Russian interference in our election,” said Kelly, a former Fox News host.

Putin is hosting an international economic forum in St. Petersburg. The 46-year-old Kelly will serve as a moderator of a panel that will include Putin.

{mosads}Putin has denied the U.S. intelligence community’s conclusion that Russia was behind key data hacks that led to damaging leaks during last year’s presidential election.

“We don’t engage in that at the state level,” Putin said Thursday, according to The Associated Press.

He added, however, that individual “patriotic” hackers could launch attacks.

“No hackers can influence election campaigns in any country of Europe, Asia or America,” Putin added.

“Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly” premieres Sunday at 7 p.m.
