Woman comes forward as Bolling sexual harassment victim
One woman has come forward as a victim of sexual harassment by Fox News host Eric Bolling, hours after he was suspended over claims he sent lewd photos of male genitalia to female co-workers.
Caroline Heldman, an associate professor of politics at Occidental College who has frequently appeared on the network, detailed the harassment in a lengthy post on her Facebook page Saturday, first reported by the Huffington Post.
“Bolling referred to me as ‘Dr. McHottie’ on air on four different occasions, and called me ‘smart, beautiful, and wrong’ on air twice,” Heldman wrote. “I pushed back with ‘Mr. McSexist,’ but I shouldn’t have had to. This on-air behavior was perfectly acceptable to Fox executives at the time.”
Bolling was suspended by Fox News on Saturday over claims that he sent photos of male genitalia to female co-workers at Fox News and Fox Business.
“We are investigating this matter and all claims will be taken into account,” a Fox News spokesperson said in a statement to The Hill.
{mosads}Heldman wrote that Bolling would often apologize for his behavior over the phone or through text messages, but would then offer to fly her to New York for in-studio appearances and “to have ‘fun.’”
She said that former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly and former Fox News consultant Woody Fraser also sexually harassed her during her time appearing on the network.
“There are a lot of great people working at Fox, many of whom I admire and respect to this day, but there is also a culture of sexual harassment that has not fully been addressed,” she wrote. “I have faith that, given recent decisions to fire and suspend perpetrators, the new management will effectively shift this culture.
The allegations against Bolling are the latest made against Fox News personalities. Late and former president Roger Ailes was forced out over sexual harassment claims last year, as was O’Reilly earlier this year.
