Bill Maher says Ivanka Trump has ‘no sway over daddy’
HBO’s Bill Maher on Friday called out President Trump’s eldest daughter Ivanka Trump for having “no sway over daddy.”
“Ivanka Trump: greatest disappointment so far,” said Maher on his weekly HBO political program, “Real Time.”
“I mean, really, Ivanka? You couldn’t even stop the transgender in the military thing? I thought this was your area. She has no sway over daddy,” he said.

Trump signed a presidential memo Friday instructing the Department of Defense to no longer accept transgender people who wish to enlist in the military.
Maher also mocked Ivanka, who serves as an unpaid adviser to the president, for her Monday tweet on the social eclipse and the importance of wearing special glasses for the event.

Maher has targeted Ivanka Trump before on the program, including an incest joke in May that led to criticism from both the right and left.
“A lot of us thought, ‘Oh, Ivanka is gonna be our saving grace.’ When [Trump’s] about to [expletive] nuke Finland or something, she’s gonna walk into the bedroom and you know…’Daddy, Daddy. Don’t do it, Daddy,'” Maher said on May 9 while imitating a sexual act with his hand.
Maher, 61, is one of the few late-night hosts not on vacation in August.
Stephen Colbert’s Late Show on CBS will be in reruns until after Labor Day, as will NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyers and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.
HBO’s John Oliver will be away until September 11. Maher’s Friday program will be a repeat heading into the Labor Day weekend next week.
