Amazon puts entertainment exec on leave of absence

Amazon put its most senior entertainment executive Roy Price on a leave of absence Thursday amid renewed sexual harassment allegations.

“Roy Price is on leave of absence effective immediately,” an Amazon spokesperson told told Variety in a statement.

“We are reviewing our options for our projects we have with the Weinstein Company,” the statement added.

The development comes after reports surfaced of alleged harassment involving Price and Isa Hackett, who is one of the executive producers of the Amazon original series “The Man in the High Castle.”

The move also came amid mounting sexual harassment and sexual assault allegations against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. The veteran producer’s accusers include major Hollywood names such as Angelina Jolie and Kate Beckinsale.

Actress Rose McGowan, who is one of Weinstein’s accusers, tweeted at Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos on Thursday saying, “I told the head of your studio that HW raped me. Over & over I said it. He said it hadn’t been proven. I said I was the proof.”

The actress also said the executive she was referring to scrapped the project she was pursuing in the studio.

A representative for attorney Lisa Bloom told Variety on Thursday that she would no longer represent Price. Variety reported that she had represented him since the harassment allegation was reported on in August.

Bloom, who has built a reputation representing women in sexual harassment cases involving high-profile men like Bill Cosby, announced last week that she would no longer represent Weinstein.

While Weinstein was fired from The Weinstein Company, Amazon has two series being produced by the company, however their future is unclear.
