Fox News host Sean Hannity called on all other Republican senators that refuse to back President Trump’s agenda to resign, the same day Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) shocked his Republican colleagues by announcing he won’t seek reelection in 2018.
Hannity said that after Trump critics Flake and Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) both announced they wouldn’t run for reelection, others critical of Trump’s agenda should join them.
{mosads}“I have a suggestion for all you never-Trumper senators that are heading for the exits, people like Corker and Flake,” Hannity said. “Take your other colleagues with you.”
“Mitch McConnell, goodbye. Ben Sasse, goodbye. John Cornyn, goodbye,” Hannity said. “Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins … get the job done that you promised the American people.”
Hannity also went after Corker, Flake and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) as “martyrs” for criticizing Trump.
“You want to be martyrs, go ahead,” he said. “Here’s my answer to all of you tonight — good riddance. Happy trails, don’t let the door hit you on the way out of town.”
Hannity, a strong ally of Trump in the media, made the comments after both Corker and Flake went after Trump.
Trump reignited his past feud with Corker in a series of tweets early Tuesday, claiming Corker “couldn’t get elected dog catcher.”
Corker fired back by saying he wouldn’t support Trump for president again and that Trump was “debasing” the nation.
Flake announced later Tuesday that he would not run for reelection in 2018 and attacked Trump in a fiery speech on the Senate floor.
