SNL’s Trump and Manafort discuss indictments in the shower

“Saturday Night Live” returned this week and so did actor Alec Baldwin’s impression of President Trump.

Baldwin appeared in the show’s opening sketch, in which Trump goes to visit former campaign manager Paul Manafort, who is under house arrest.  In order to ensure Manafort isn’t wearing a wire, Trump insists the two talk in the shower.

“I brought you in the shower to make sure you aren’t wearing a wire, Paul,” Baldwin’s Trump says. “I have a proposition for you, Paul. All I need from you is to go to prison for a very very long time. And in return, I still get to be president, which I hate, but I’m too proud to quit ’cause that’s not fair.”

“But, Mr. President, can’t you just pardon me?” Manfort asks Baldwin’s Trump. {mosads}

“Unfortunately it’s not that simple. But we have a plan, a great plan. Isn’t that right Jeff?” Baldwin says as SNL cast member Kate McKinnon appears impersonating Attorney General Jeff Sessions. 

“I’m a sneaky lyin’ little villian. If mean ol’ Mr. Mueller comes after me I’m just gonna roll over and play dead like the half-possum that I am,” McKinnon says as Sessions.

The conversation continues with Trump saying he can’t pardon Manafort yet, but that he has a genius plan to do so.

“Here’s the thing Paul, I can’t pardon you now. But we’re gonna wait a few weeks then dress you up like a turkey then pardon you,” Baldwin says, referencing the annual presidential pardon of a turkey ahead of Thanksgiving.

The skit follows the bombshell charges against Manafort and his associate Richard Gates, including conspiracy against the U.S. and money laundering — the first indictments handed down against Trump campaign staffers in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russia’s election interference. 

Following the indictment, Manafort has been under house arrest.
