Thanks to President Trump, America will never be a socialist country
President Donald Trump was great at the Conservative Political Action Conference last weekend, where he said: “America will never be a socialist country — ever.” There are a number of Democratic socialists running for president right now who want to transform America into a socialist nightmare like we are seeing in Venezuela today. Thankfully, President Trump will fight the socialist ideas that have become mainstream in the new Democratic Party.
Democrats have embraced something called “Medicare for All” that would dump all Americans into government-run health care. President Trump said at CPAC that “more than 100 Democrats in Congress signed up for a socialist takeover of American health care. Their radical government-run plan — if you call it that — would lead to colossal tax increases — increases like you’ve never seen before — and take away private coverage from over 180 million Americans.” If you like your current health care plan, Democrats don’t want you to keep it.{mosads}
Even the liberal Urban Institute has found that the Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-Vt.) version of a single-payer health care government-takeover plan is expensive. According to the Urban Institute: “The Mercatus Center released a report that estimated that the Sanders single-payer plan would cost $32 trillion over ten years. This was close to an earlier estimate done by the Urban Institute… the bottom lines are similar.”
Just to put this into perspective, the national debt accumulated over the history of this great nation already stands at more than $22 trillion. Americans who have been led to believe that there will be free health care will pay dearly with higher taxes and more debt passed on to future generations. The same Democratic Party that gave us ObamaCare now argues that ObamaCare is a failure and we need a full-blown government-run health care system to put the federal government into the poor house.
The biggest-ticket item for the new “Democratic Socialist Party” is the “Green New Deal.” The president made fun of the Green New Deal as “a high school term paper written by a poor student” and made the case that “the Green New Deal would completely abolish the American oil, natural gas, coal, and nuclear power industries, of which we’re now the leader in the world.”
Nicolas Loris of the Heritage Foundation wrote on Feb. 8 about the plan proposed by two hard-left-wingers, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), when he argued that “far from being just an energy and climate resolution, the Green New Deal resolution is a wish list for big government spending, expansive government control, and massive amounts of wealth distribution.” Loris went on to make the strong case that, “ultimately, this deal would fundamentally change how people produce and consume energy, harvest crops, raise livestock, build homes, drive cars, travel long distances, and manufacture goods. And it wouldn’t even work.”
The socialist left wants to use the so-called Green New Deal as a Trojan horse to sneak socialism into the federal government.{mossecondads}
Ocasio-Cortez seems like the new ideological leader of the Democrats. She is pushing the Green New Deal to “save the planet,” according to her interview with NPR on Feb. 7. She argued that “even the solutions that we have considered big and bold are nowhere near the scale of the actual problem that climate change presents to us, to our country, to the world. And so while carbon taxes are nice, while things like cap and trade are nice, it’s not what’s going to save the planet. It could be part of a larger solution but no one has actually scoped out what that larger solution would entail.” The Ocasio-Cortez Democrats want to transform America into the same economic system that has ruined North Korea, Venezuela and Cuba.
President Trump delivered a harsh rebuke to these horrible socialist ideas when he said at CPAC: “Socialism is not about the environment. It’s not about justice. It’s not about virtue. Socialism is about only one thing. It’s called ‘power for the ruling class.’ That’s what it is.” President Trump is defending America against these horrible big-government ideas that will destroy our great nation.
While establishment Republicans in Congress did not do enough to fight for the total Trump agenda when they had control, can you imagine a world in which Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are running Congress? It would be a total disaster.
We live in a great nation that has a booming economy. Socialism would take all that wealth that our nation has accumulated and enable the government to waste it. The private sector is a far better allocator of resources than a bunch of D.C. swamp-dwelling bureaucrats. President Trump is fighting to protect America from an invasion of socialist ideas into the American political dialogue.
