It is the pervasive and new dynamic in American politics of President Trump versus the Democrats, the left, some on the right who oppose him as the never Trumpers do and across the globe in foreign policy.
When candidate Trump announced he was running for the presidency of the United States he stated that they are not working for you. He pointed out failures of government and failures of those in elite positions who claimed to serve the interests of the people but did not deliver enough.
{mosads}After 2½ years, millions of Americans who support the president, and even those who do not, have a champion for America and the principles that have made this nation great.
Trump is blunt, brash and at times depending on your point of view, offensive. What he is not is a racist. I have challenged listeners on radio, viewers on television and readers here to produce empirical evidence of his racism. No one has been able to do so.
There is no record of a white supremacy meeting in Trump Tower or the White House. There is no record of a private meeting somewhere in America where the Trump family or administration is present. You would think this is so outrageous that it would not have to be stated, but in today’s climate it’s almost required.
The latest public narrative is about Baltimore and the president’s comments about “rat infested” areas of a city that just reached its 290th birthday. Baltimore’s evolution as one of America’s largest cities is also accompanied by a devolution that mirrors many liberal-run cities across the country. It’s not the politicians that will pay the price, but the people that live in these neighborhoods.
All too often they don’t even have a view of a different potential future for themselves. In the generations since the battle for desegregation and voting rights, too many have been raised on false promises by Democrat Party leaders and elected officials.
The Rev. Al Sharpton is one of the most notable race pimps in recent American history. Booker T. Washington saw many in his time and this quote summarizes Sharpton.
“There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don’t want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public,” Washington writes.
What it cannot summarize I believe is that even Washington could not have imagined the levels to which Sharpton will stoop.
The president is correct in his characterization of Sharpton as a con man based on actions since Tawana Brawley’s lies, the 1991 Crown Heights riots fueled by his anti-Semitic statements, his lies in Ferguson in 2014 and his Freddie Gray Summit in Baltimore in 2015.
Ask yourself, has Sharpton gone back to Baltimore since then to do any of the work he brags about all too often?
The once go-to guy for former President Obama on race is the “come and go” con man for the black community. Sharpton promises, delivers nothing and collects the check.
Every Democratic presidential candidate will sit down with him at Sylvia’s in Harlem. Black people should ask themselves what have they gotten from decades of photo ops at a small table by the window.
A more honest appraisal of so many neighborhoods across the country provides the answer, very little if anything.
The Democrats failed to unseat President Trump with the special counsel investigation. Impeachment is off the table no matter how many times they bring it up. Even if they were able to impeach in the House, the trial in the Senate would allow the president’s attorneys to ask questions and many Democrats may not want to face those questions.
Imagine you’re the duly elected president of the United States. There was no controversy as there was in the 2000 George W. Bush-Al Gore election. And yet the election hangover manifested in the form of a resistance started by your opponent Hillary Clinton and carried on by the bureaucratic deep state.
Two and a half years later, a special counsel appointed by “the resistance” finds no coordination with Russia and it still isn’t enough.
What do you do? If you are President Trump you counterpunch when necessary, strike first to set the narrative even bluntly at times and continue to hammer home in a way that Americans recognize as brutally honest. Artful political speech does exist in the Trump administration but what gets attention is the blue-collar bluntness.
Democrats won’t once again fail to tie the racist moniker to the president after the Baltimore story falls from the headlines. Occasional use in campaign ads may serve some purpose but not on the national scale.
And in closing, let me reiterate. President Trump is lousy at being a racist and he is really lousy at colluding with Russians or any other government against the United States.
