Webb: The modern age of dissent versus riot

We’ve gone from social distancing or arrest, to social protesting and riots.

Coronavirus is yesterday’s news. The same governors and other officials, primarily Democrats who would have arrested you for peaceful dissent and opening your business to survive, now don’t care if rioters storm into your business and destroy it. Rioters, after all, need a cooling off period. Remember how well that worked in Baltimore during the Freddie Gray riots.

Maybe they know something we don’t. Is tear gas and pepper spray on a hot night combined with the fires of a burning business the real cure for coronavirus?

The reopen protests, by contrast, were peaceful and many on the left were giddy with coronavirus glee that Trump supporters would catch the virus and spread it. My suggestion, if your business is not one of those looted by the peaceful to slightly agitated rioters, is to open your business safely and get back to work. If the authorities, a.k.a. political hypocrites, show up find a lawyer.

This is a battle between right and wrong. The wrong are Antifa, Black Lives Matter, anarchists, opportunists and protesters that turn into looters. The righteous and peaceful protests are for the aforementioned a pretext to the riot.

The killing of George Floyd by Derek Chauvin and the callous disregard to help Floyd by the other three officers is wrong and we all see this. Chauvin should not have been on the police force. George Floyd would be alive today. Ask Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) why as Hennepin County attorney, many officers including Chauvin with multiple complaints were not prosecuted. President Trump immediately weighed in and put the Department of Justice on the case. He saw a wrong that cost an American his life.

The left saw opportunity. Many on the left blame President Trump and the right, but let’s examine Minneapolis and many cities where these incidents are all too common. Democrats are in charge, decades of liberal progressive governance is combined with broken trust and broken law enforcement. This is a dangerous mix. Liberals, you voted in the leadership you decry while you protest. Now, you burn your own communities. Doesn’t matter if you live where you burn or not, this is your creation and all pay the price.

How is rioting justice for George Floyd?

Frankenstein, meet thy monster.

Social justice Frankensteins on CNN, MSNBC, Don Lemon, Rachel Maddow, Taylor Swift, Cardi B and others have for years stoked the false fires of “always racism,” of “always” white cops shooting blacks. Yes there’s racism, but not in every instance. Look around, the monster is breaking the glass, setting a fire, shooting a police officer and destroying someone’s hard work.

There are numerous examples on social media and reported by honest media. The makeup is essentially the same. A group of black, white and other ethnicities, more accurately rioters, beat a business owner senseless, turn over vehicles and assault police officers. Law enforcement officers have been killed, hundreds injured. There are numerous examples.

Think it’s only the disenfranchised. A New York University educated attorney Colinford Mattis also a Brooklyn community board member, drove the getaway minivan while Fordham University educated attorney Urooj Rahman threw a Molotov cocktail at a marked NYPD vehicle.

The numbers don’t add up to the narrative. A look at the number of people shot to death by the police in the United States from 2017 to 2020, by race has whites far outpacing blacks and Hispanics. This year as of March 30, 2020, of 228 civilians shot, 31 were Black. Also, in many instances the officers are not white. All are tragic, some are justified, not all are racism.

The real monsters are also the race and poverty pimps.

Enough pretense, the protests are a pretext for looters that you see on the news. The George Floyd protests are peaceful for those who truly care. The system must be watched but Derek Chauvin is under arrest and the other officers must be charged. Justice may be slow in contrast to the daily marches, but it is working.

This must remain about justice for George Floyd and his family.
