•COMMODITY FUTURES TRADING COMMISSION: President Bush nominated Jill Summers to be commissioner.
•EXPORT-IMPORT BANK: Michael Tankersley will be the bank’s first-ever inspector general, the White House announced.
•HOMELAND SECURITY: Bush announced his intention to nominate Gregory Cade to be administrator of the U.S. Fire Administration.
The administration has also selected nominees to serve on the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee. Gary Forsee is in line to be chairman, Randall Stephenson to be vice chairman, and Daniel Carroll Jr. and Howard Lance to sit on the panel.
•HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT: Bush named Robert Couch acting general counsel.
•JUDICIARY: Bush nominated Frederick Kapala to be a judge in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
The president nominated Heidi Pasichow to be an associate judge on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
•JUSTICE: Bush designated Laura Rogers as his nominee to be director of the Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering and Tracking.
•SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION: The president nominated Jeffrey Brown to the Social Security Advisory Board after previously recess-appointing him.
•STATE: Bush nominated Sam Fox to be ambassador to Belgium.
The president nominated Dave Phillips to be ambassador to Estonia. The administration also appointed Carlos Marin to be commissioner of the International Boundary and Water Commission for the United States and Mexico, a position he holds in an acting capacity.
•TRANSPORTATION: Bush plans to nominate Maria Cino to be a member of the National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission.
•WHITE HOUSE: The president has made several changes and additions to his staff, including naming Scott Stanzel deputy press secretary, Alan Swendiman to be director of the Office of Administration, and Christopher Oprison and Cheryl Stanton to be associate counsels.
