Why I’m proud to vote for Clinton

There are plenty of reasons not to vote for Donald Trump. His policies would be disastrous for working families and his campaign of hate, ignorance and lies has pushed our nation’s politics down to a degrading level.

But if you can, set that aside. Let’s look at the reasons for voting for Hillary Clinton for president.

{mosads}Clinton is one of the best qualified and most intelligent presidential candidates we’ve ever had.

Clinton has served as secretary of State, a U.S. senator, first lady and an advocacy attorney. She spoke about social justice and women’s rights as a 21-year-old commencement speaker at Wellesley, and she was one of only 27 women in her graduating class at Yale Law School. Instead of taking a high-paid job at a corporate law firm, Clinton went to work for the Children’s Defense Fund. Her passion for improving the lives of children and families remains as strong to this day.

As first lady, she worked with both Democrats and Republicans to establish the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which provides health insurance to millions of children from low-income families.

Clinton continued as a trailblazer when she was elected New York’s first female U.S. senator. She was relentless in fighting for financial support to rebuild New York City after the Sept. 11 attack. She fought to gain healthcare and compensation for first responders and others who suffered long-lasting health problems in the aftermath of those attacks.

Despite battling each other in a close Democratic primary in 2008, President Obama knew he wanted Clinton to be his secretary of State — considered the top appointment for any president. In that role, she brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and worked to rebuild America’s power on the global stage.

I can’t help but wonder that if Hillary Clinton were a man, her talents and accomplishments would be universally recognized. For me, there’s no question that one of the candidates is head and shoulders above the other. That’s why I’m proud to cast my vote in November for Hillary Clinton for president of the United States.

Clinton’s GOP backers cowardly

We have two multimillionaire candidates for president.

One made his money in a capitalistic environment, competing with other people, building buildings and building businesses while employing workers and other businesses that in turn employed other workers. He built an empire that employs people of all races, sexes, sexual orientation and shades of skin color.

The other has made millions giving lip service to the poor and downtrodden, calling out the rich publicly and then taking money behind closed doors by giving speeches to the same rich and powerful she had seemingly castigated. And she will not allow her words and promises given behind closed doors to be made public.

Some Republican members of Congress say they will vote for Hillary Clinton and cannot support Donald Trump. Republican members have seen and heard Clinton come before Congress and lie to them repeatedly. Republicans have seen the administration she was part of, which brought more strife to the Middle East, refuses to call Islamic terrorists Islamic terrorists and increased the debt to over $19 trillion. How can anyone of them say they will vote for her?

It seems we have a bunch of cowardly people in Congress who put their political and financial welfare before this country’s well-being.
