Sony PlayStation Network down again
Is the hacking group Lizard Squad at it again?
Sony’s PlayStation Network went down again Sunday night. Within several hours, Sony acknowledged the issue and early Monday morning said the network was “in the process of being restored.”
{mosads}PlayStation has had trouble staying online in recent months. Lizard Squad has been targeting the system with so-called distributed denial of service attacks, which use massive amounts of fake traffic to crash the server.
Lizard Squad has not yet taken credit for this most recent outage, however.
The group has been around for a number of years but recently rose to prominence with a massive cyberattack on Christmas Day that took down both the PlayStation Network and Microsoft’s Xbox network for several days.
Lizard Squad also took credit for hacking into pop star Taylor Swift’s Twitter account last week.
Many believe the increased spate of attacks are advertisements for the group’s new website, which allows anyone to hire Lizard Squad to conduct cyberattacks.
