‘Revenge porn’ boss will plead guilty to hacking

The operator of a notorious “revenge porn” website will plead guilty to charges of hacking and identity theft under an agreement with federal prosecutors.

Hunter Moore, who ran the site isanyoneup.com, is facing up to seven years in prison for hacking into women’s email accounts, stealing nude photos and posting them online.

{mosads}The site prompted a variety of copy-cats that have cast a spotlight on revenge porn, when women’s sexually explicit photos are posted online without their permission by hackers or former lovers.

The phenomenon received additional attention when hackers broke into celebrities’ online accounts last year and posted nude photos online.

Moore’s plea agreement, announced Wednesday, allows the government to erase his digital devices. He is due back in court on Feb. 25, but the appearance could be delayed until March.

Thirteen states have passed laws against cyber exploitation, including California, according to the Los Angeles Times
