Report: Flynn followed Russian trolls, amplified messages

Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who served as President Trump’s national security adviser and worked on his campaign, reportedly followed multiple Twitter accounts from a Russian troll farm and disseminated their messages before the 2016 presidential election.

According to The Daily Beast, Flynn followed five accounts and on three occasions promoted the accounts’ messages prior to the election. The accounts reportedly presented themselves as being authored by women from the United States backing Trump.

{mosads}The news outlet noted that the troll farm accounts have been suspended by Twitter, and therefore many of the tweets no longer exist.

“Let’s take our country back from the hands of those who care less about you & I and more about power & money. @realDonaldTrump @MikePenceVP,” Flynn wrote on Twitter, quoting user Pamela_Moore13, one of the troll farm accounts.

Flynn resigned from his post in the Trump administration in February after reports emerged saying that he discussed sanctions with Russia’s ambassador to the United States before the inauguration.

Flynn had originally told other Trump officials, including Vice President Pence, that he and the ambassador did not speak of sanctions during their conversations.
