Roger Stone associates questioned about ties to WikiLeaks for Mueller probe: report

Two associates of longtime Trump ally and GOP operative Roger Stone have reportedly been questioned in recent days as part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Randy Credico, a comedian and talk-show host, was questioned in front of a grand jury Friday about his relationship with Stone and WikiLeaks, according to Reuters.

Jerome Corsi, a far-right political commentator with ties to Stone, was also questioned by Mueller’s team on Thursday. Corsi was scheduled to testify on Friday but the plan was placed on hold, his attorney said.

Credico’s lawyer, Martin Stolar, told Reuters his client had received a request to appear in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee and would likely decline to appear voluntarily.

Stone’s interactions with WikiLeaks came under scrutiny after the group released emails during the 2016 presidential election that had been hacked from the Democratic Party and Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta.

U.S. intelligence agencies have maintained that Russian operatives hacked the Democratic email servers and used WikiLeaks to release the information online.

Reuters reports that Mueller’s team has asked multiple other Stone associates about his relations to WikiLeaks and its founder, Julian Assange.

The special counsel is investigating if Stone had any advance knowledge of the 2016 document dump after Stone sent out multiple tweets lining up with the reveal of the Democratic documents.

“Wednesday @HillaryClinton is done. #Wikileaks,” Stone, whose Twitter account has since been suspended, tweeted on Oct. 1, 2016. WikiLeaks began releasing documents stolen from Podesta on Oct. 7.

WikiLeaks has denied any ties to Russia or its efforts to meddle in the 2016 election and Stone has denied any advance knowledge of WikiLeaks’ document dumps.

Stone has predicted that Mueller will indict him in his probe.
