US Embassy in Kabul hit on Christmas
The U.S. Embassy in Kabul was hit by a Christmas Day attack, but no Americans were killed, The Associated Press reported Wednesday.
Indirect fire hit the embassy in Afghanistan’s capital before dawn, according to the report, as two rounds struck the embassy compound.
{mosads}An embassy official told the AP the 6:40 a.m. attack was under investigation.
“All Americans are accounted for, and no injuries were sustained,” the official told the AP.
Separately, six people were killed and 16 wounded in separate bombing attacks in other parts of Afghanistan, the AP said.
Attacks by militants have increased in recent months as U.S. and other foreign troops complete a drawdown that will end with the full withdrawal of combat forces at the end of 2014.
