House GOP to hash out ISIS response Thursday

House Republicans will hold a special members conference Thursday morning focused on the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

{mosads}The 9:00 a.m. meeting will take place just 12 hours after President Obama addresses the nation on his strategy for combating the militant group.

“With the president’s speech tonight, we wanted to make sure we had a scheduled opportunity for members to discuss the strategy we anticipate he will lay out,” according to one Republican aide.

The conference also comes two hours ahead of a classified briefing on ISIS for all House members.

That closed-door session will include deputy national security adviser Tony Blinken, Deputy Secretary of State William Burns, Deputy Defense Secretary Robert Work, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey, Assistant Deputy Director of National intelligence Michael Dempsey and National Counterterrorism Center chief Matthew Olsen.
