Islamic militants execute 85 in Iraq
Islamic militants killed 85 members of an Iraqi tribe recently, as part of the militants’ efforts to consolidate territorial gains.
{mosads}The execution of the members of the Albu Nimr tribe by the Islamic State happened in at least two separate incidents, according to Reuters.
A tribal chief said that the militants killed 50 members of Albu Nimr who were fleeing on Friday. Separately, a mass grave of 35 bodies has also been found.
The U.S. is currently bombing parts of Iraq and Syria in an attempt to weaken the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), but the group’s territorial gains suggest the offshoot of Al Qaeda continues to perhaps even gain strength.
The militants have executed more than 300 tribal fighters since the middle of last week, Reuters said.
