Defense lobbyists brief Trump

A trade association representing leading aerospace manufacturers said it briefed its priorities to presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump on Thursday.

“The Aerospace Industries Association [AIA] participated in a meeting today with the Trump campaign to brief Mr. Trump on issues of importance to our industry,” said the association’s president and CEO, David F. Melcher.

{mosads}”As the Voice of American Aerospace and Defense, AIA’s role is to educate our elected leaders, candidates for office and the general public on the importance of our industry to our economy and national security,” he said.

Representatives from defense firms Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon also participated in the meeting, which took place at Trump Tower in Manhattan, according to the Daily Beast.

Melcher said the AIA has also been in contact with the Clinton campaign regarding a similar opportunity to brief presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

“Our briefings are for educational purposes only, and we welcome the opportunity to speak with the candidates about issues that matter to our nation, our industry and our members,” he said.
