Seven Marines killed in Nevada training incident
The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Monday and
involved Marines with the 2nd Marine Division, according to the 2nd Marine
Expeditionary Force based at Camp Lejune, N.C.
{mosads}The identities of the Marines who were killed have not been
released.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) acknowledged the
Marines killed on the Senate floor Tuesday.
“My thoughts are with those who were injured. My
heart goes out to the families of those who lost their lives. And my sympathies
are with their fellow Marines, who are also grieving this loss,” Reid said.
Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) tweeted:
“Thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost a loved one in the
Hawthorne Army Depot explosion. Grateful for their service.”
The Hawthorne Army Depot is used to demilitarize ammunition
and spans nearly 150,000 acres.
