Navy: Some missing sailors’ remains found in USS McCain’s compartments

The remains of some of the 10 sailors missing after the USS John S. McCain collided with an oil tanker in the Straight of Malacca have been found.

Some of the remains were found in the compartments of the damaged part of the destroyer, The Washington Post reported.

A body was also reportedly found by the Malaysian Navy and is being transferred for identification.

Adm. Scott Swift, the commander of the Navy’s Pacific Fleet, said the search is still going on.

{mosads}He also said the McCain underwent “significant damage” and noted investigators are trying to figure out what happened and how.

The report comes after the guided-missile destroyer, which was en route to Singapore for a routine port visit, collided with an oil tanker three times its size.

Five sailors were injured in the collision and 10 had been missing.

President Trump on Sunday tweeted his thoughts and prayers were with the McCain’s sailors.

This was the second 7th Fleet warship to be involved in a collision in the last two months.
