Ambush kills 3 US special forces in Niger: reports

Three members of the U.S. Army Special Forces were killed on Wednesday in Niger, according to multiple reports.

{mosads}The incident occurred during an ambush while the troops were on routine patrol, The New York Times reported. Two others were injured.

“We can confirm reports that a joint U.S. and Nigerien patrol came under hostile fire in southwest Niger,” said the spokesperson for U.S. Africa Command, Lt. Cmdr. Anthony Falvo, in an email reported by the newspaper.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said President Trump has been briefed on the incident, according to pool reports.
