US to send more Marines to Afghanistan: report

Officials told the news network that dozens of Marines will be sent to Helmand province to aid with internal force protection. The request is reportedly not part of an impending Trump administration strategy for Afghanistan.

The Marines heading to Afghanistan have been based in the region and are coming from Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response Central Command.
