Republicans try to link Obama’s tenure to rising gas prices

The White House, for its part, is putting the spotlight on oil companies.
White House spokesman Jay Carney on Monday called it “crazy” to keep subsidizing the industry amid high gas prices and expected strong profit reports this week.
While there is very little the administration or Congress can do to affect prices in the short-term, the back-and-forth Monday underscores the political volatility of the matter.
