Republicans float bill aimed at limiting enviro lawsuits
Environmental groups have used EAJA to “grind the work of land management and other federal agencies to a halt,” Lummis said in a statement.
“It’s absolutely absurd that Washington pays outside groups to repeatedly sue our government. It’s time to halt the endless cycle of reckless lawsuits and fix this broken system,” Barrasso added.
The bill would also limit the number of times an individual or group can recoup the cost of suing the federal government; cap the total payout under the law at $200,000 per action; and require the government to closely track payments under the law.
