Government funding battle knocks stalled efficiency bill off Senate floor

{mosads}The two parties failed to reach an agreement on amendments and the bill has become ensnared in battles over ObamaCare and other topics.

“I’m disappointed that a small group of senators have delayed action on a bipartisan effort to create jobs, lower pollution, and save taxpayers money,” Shaheen saidin a statement Thursday.

“Shaheen-Portman is a bipartisan bill with an unprecedented amount of support because people from across the political spectrum agree that it is good for our economy and our environment,” she added.

Shaheen said, “I don’t plan on giving up and will continue to work to pass this bill.”

The bill contains measures to encourage stronger building codes, train workers in energy efficient building technologies, help manufacturers become more efficient, and bolster the efficiency of federal buildings, among other provisions.
