Carney touts climate plan off oil import news

Press secretary Jay Carney capitalized on news that the U.S. is importing less foreign oil than it is producing to tout the administration’s climate action plan. 

Ahead of Thursday’s House GOP hearing on President Obama’s proposed regulations to curb carbon pollution at power plants, Carney jumped the gun during his daily briefing.

{mosads}”We do not need to choose between growing the economy and cutting pollution,” he said. “While CO2 emissions are dropping, our economy is not slowing and our GDP continues to grow.

“The president’s climate action plan will spark innovation across a wide variety of energy technologies, resulting in cleaner forms of American-made energy. The president’s plan will also help families cut energy waste, lowering their gas and utility bills. So this is a significant milestone,” Carney continued, “a reflection of the president’s all-of-the-above approach to energy production as well as his commitment to reducing carbon emissions.”
