Despite green push, big pickups rule Detroit
Reuters reports big trucks and SUVs dominate sales for Detroit’s big automakers despite pushes by the Obama administration toward greener vehicles.
{mosads}White House spokesman Keith Maley said, however, that the administration does not see the strong trend toward full-size trucks as counter-productive to Obama’s green initiatives, according to the news service.
Sales of full-size pickups jumped from the previous year by 20 percent.
Analysts say nearly all electric and hybrid vehicles — not including the Toyota Prius — are money-losers for retailers.
