Oil group sues Colorado cities over fracking bans
Bloomberg reports the Colorado Oil and Gas Association sued two cities over their voter-enacted bans on oil-and-gas extraction.
{mosads}The association claims the bans by the cities of Fort Collins and Lafayette are preempted by state laws regulating the resources.
In November, both cities voted to block all hydraulic fracturing for oil and gas over a span of five years.
“With 95 percent of all wells in Colorado hydraulically fractured, any ban on fracking is a ban on oil and gas development,” association President Tisha Schuller said in a statement announcing the filing.
