CNN chief: People don’t watch climate coverage

Climate change deserves more coverage on CNN, but viewers are not interested in watching the stories, CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker said.

Zucker said network officials believe they should give more airtime to climate change.

{mosads}“We haven’t figured out how to engage the audience in that story in a meaningful way,” Zucker said in an interview at a Deadline Club event, according to Capital New York.

“When we do do those stories, there does tend to be a tremendous amount of lack of interest on the audience’s part,” he said.

CNN has been criticized recently for sparse coverage of climate change and for devoting a large portion of the coverage to climate change skeptics.

Former CNN science correspondent Miles O’Brien recently said he was told CNN did not have enough time for his climate change reports.
