GOP fights to improve ‘economic destiny’

Rep. Steve Womack (R-Ark.) said Friday that U.S. businesses need more freedom to take advantage of the nation’s vast energy resources. 

In the weekly Republican address, Womack said that Republicans are continuing to push for the approval of the Keystone pipeline, a broad range of energy projects while aiming to keep federal regulations to a minimum.  

{mosads}As part of the plan, the GOP is backing “projects onshore and offshore, creating more jobs and eliminating our dependence on unstable parts of the world,” he said. 

In turn, the United States can “boost exports, so we can supply our allies with affordable and reliable energy, and fuel our economy at the same time.”

He suggested implementing “predictable regulations” that would provide certainty “that allows businesses to plan ahead, invest here and bring jobs back to our Main Streets and town squares.”

“The usual politics, red tape and government fixes that never seem to pan out stand in our way,” he said. 

Womack also urged the building of a stable power grid that would provide protection from blackouts and security threats. 

“For years, Washington has denied the American people the chance to seize their economic destiny,” he said. 

“Republicans are fighting every day to make these opportunities possible again.”
