Senators tackle energy cost impacts
Two Republican senators will release a white paper next week arguing that regulations and legislation that increase energy costs hurt poor families.
Sens. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Tim Scott (S.C.), both members of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, will release their paper Plenty at Stake: Indicators of American Energy Insecurity on Sept. 18 at an event hosted by the conservative Manhattan Institute.
{mosads}Murkowski’s office said the senators will speak about “the economic, political, and social consequences of allowing energy insecurity to rise in America.”
Mark Mills, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, will host the event.
Murkowski and Scott have both railed against many of President Obama’s environmental policies, arguing they would increase energy costs for families and businesses.
