Kerry: US, China cannot solve climate problem alone

Secretary of State John Kerry said the U.S. and China will need to solve the climate change problem together because alone it would be impossible.

As the world’s two largest consumers of energy and emitters of greenhouse gases, the U.S. and China must act in unison to fight global warming, Kerry said on Tuesday,

{mosads}Kerry made the statement at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies on Tuesday, a week before he will join President Obama on a trip to China.

“We need to solve the problem together because neither one of us can possibly solve it alone,” Kerry said.

“If even one or two major economies neglects to respond to this threat, it will erase the good work done everywhere else,” he added.

Kerry said the global energy market is poised to become the largest market the “world has ever known” and that China and the U.S. can make sure “clean energy is the most attractive investment.”
