NextGen Climate will run a TV ad calling for action on climate change during coverage of the State of the Union on Tuesday.
The ad will run in Washington, D.C., on all major networks the group, founded by billionaire climate activist Tom Steyer, said.
{mosads}”The United States stands at a crucial crossroads on energy policy. We can create hundreds of thousands of jobs and a build a bright, prosperous future for our children by tackling climate change head-on, or we can side with special interests who deny basic science and support policies that would create more carbon pollution and place our children’s future at risk,” Steyer said in a statement.
Steyer is currently weighing whether to run for the U.S. Senate in California, when Sen. Barbara Boxer (D) retires in 2016.
The former hedge fund manager has said he will make a decision on the race soon.
