Norway announced plans on Wednesday to cut its greenhouse gas emissions 40 percent by 2030.
The target aligns Norway with the reductions the European Union has set, The Associated Press reports.
{mosads}The 40 percent cut will be from 1990 emissions levels and Norway’s contribution to the United Nations climate talks in Paris later this year.
Countries must submit their plans to tackle climate change to the U.N. by March to prepare for the December talks.
