Republicans to huddle Wednesday to mull options on EPA nominee vote
Press aides to committee Chairwoman Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) did not respond to an inquiry about whether they would consider a request to delay the vote.
But Inhofe predicted Democrats would be open to it.
“I think we are getting along well enough that if we wanted an extension, we would be able to get that,” he said.
Several Republicans on the committee, notably including ranking Republican David Vitter (R-La.), say McCarthy has not responded sufficiently to their various questions about EPA policy and what GOP critics call inadequate “transparency” practices.
McCarthy is currently the EPA’s top air quality regulator. She would replace former Administrator Lisa Jackson atop the agency.
