Energy secretary defends ‘social cost of carbon’ boost

The Energy Department is speeding up efforts to set other appliance standards, and the higher estimated benefits of curbing carbon arrives as the Environmental Protection Agency crafts power plant emissions regulations.
Moniz touted President Obama’s second-term climate plans at a Monday speech hosted by Columbia’s Center on Global Energy Policy.
“The evidence is overwhelming; the science is clear,” Moniz said of human-driven climate change.
