Major climate group seeks new president

Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) President Eileen Claussen is stepping down after 15 years with the nonprofit policy advocacy group she founded.

Claussen, who held senior White House and State Department roles in the Clinton administration, plans to pursue “new endeavors” such as teaching and consulting, and will stick around at C2ES during the search for a replacement.

“And, after working so many years to ensure a healthy environment for our children and grandchildren, I’m really looking forward to spending more time with my own,” she said in a statement.

The group was formerly called the Pew Center on Global Change and re-launched as C2ES in 2011.

{mosads}“During Eileen’s tenure, C2ES has become a recognized leader in promoting strong policy and action to address the twin challenges of energy and climate change and has served as a vital catalyst in bringing together business, environmental groups, policymakers and others around practical solutions,” said Theodore Roosevelt IV, the C2ES board chairman and a managing director at Barclays.

In addition to working in the Clinton administration, Claussen was director of the office of Atmospheric Programs for the Environmental Protection Agency from 1987 until 1993, and has also held private sector jobs with Booz Allen Hamilton and elsewhere.
