Green groups to Senate: Don’t ‘squander’ chance to move on climate and energy
The letter avoids mention of immigration reform – the issue that threatens to kill the already-uncertain prospects for climate legislation this year.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has been crafting a sweeping climate and energy measure with Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.). But Graham has backed away from the climate initiative because he’s furious that Democrats may bring immigration legislation to the floor this year.
Graham has long worked on immigration reform, but accuses Democratic leaders of moving ahead haphazardly and calls the immigration push an election-year gambit that can’t pass.
