Reid set to move on climate change bill ahead of immigration
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has closed the door on
the possibility of moving immigration reform before a comprehensive
energy and climate bill.
“I am going to move forward on energy
first,” Reid said Wednesday.
Reid had signaled Tuesday that he would do so but left himself
some wiggle room. He made clear Wednesday that energy legislation
would take precedence.
But Reid said he is committed to passing
immigration reform this year.
Reid said that Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) has drafted an outline
that could serve as the basis for legislation to be debated on the
Senate floor.
