Senate, House to hear from BP next week
The committee had initially planned a May 6 hearing on offshore drilling and the accident with Interior Secretary Ken Salazar as the sole witness. But the continuing Gulf crisis forced a postponement and Salazar will not be at the May 11 session, Wicker said.
Across the Capitol, a panel of the House Energy and Commerce Committee will hold a May 12 hearing with officials from BP, Transocean Ltd., and Halliburton Co.
BP had leased the Deepwater Horizon rig that blew up April 20 from Transocean, and Halliburton was a contractor on the drilling project.
