Foo Fighters to open Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena
Popular rock bank the Foo Fighters are set to open Seattle’s new Climate Pledge Arena in the middle of October.
Tickets for the band’s performance on Oct. 19, dubbed “A New Way Home,” went on sale via Ticketmaster Thursday morning. However, the tickets on the website are locked.
Indie-rock band Death Cab for Cutie will open for the Foo Fighters on the day.
Death Cab for Cutie reportedly announced the show on their email list, according to the Seattle Times.
The Times reported that the concert is available for the arena’s “partners, people who have been involved in the building of Climate Pledge Arena and the bands’ dedicated fan clubs,” according to a spokesperson for the building.
The arena is said to be the “first net zero carbon certified arena in the world operating on 100% renewable energy,” 105.7 The Point reported.
News of the show comes before the arena’s grand opening on Oct. 22, when Coldplay is slated to perform.
Some of the proceeds from the show will be given to Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and Real Rent Duwamish as well as the One Roof Foundation.
The Foo Fighters have begun playing again during the pandemic, creating somewhat of a stir after people protested some of their shows due to vaccine requirements.
