Uptick in personal income, but economy still fragile
Personal spending also increased by 0.4 percent last month. The uptick is an improvement over June, which showed no change in consumption for that month.
Despite the improvements, some economists say July’s totals are less than expected and indicate the economy is still in a fragile state as employers remain reluctant to hire.
