Majority of voters believe Democrats want to increase taxes

A clear majority of respondents (60 percent) think tax cuts are good for the economy, while 56 percent say a tax hike would hurt economic growth.

On spending, nearly two-thirds of likely voters (62 percent) believe Democrats on Capitol Hill want to increase what the government spends. Fifty-six percent think that spending will hurt the economy, while 50 percent say spending will help recovery efforts.

Recent Rasmussen surveys show the economy being the most important issue of the 2010 election for 85 percent of voters polled.

Recent polls have also found that most voters trust Republicans over Democrats on issues like taxes (52 percent to 36) and the economy (48 percent to 39).
