Kyl does not expect markup of Bush tax cuts
A few
weeks before the Senate adjourned for the August recess, Senate Finance
members, which includes Kyl, met to discuss how to move forward on the Bush tax
cuts. Committee Republicans at that time had called for a markup of the
legislation.
“I
thought that was an important committee,” Kyl said, adding, “Now we
just get bypassed; because it’s inconvenient?”
Kyl noted
that vetting the legislation through committee might clear up problems that
might stall the bill’s progression on the floor.
“That’s where a lot of
the problems that we find later can be corrected,” he said.
