Obama gets poor ratings on economy in new poll
Voters over the age of 65, who readily head to polls when compared to younger generations, gave the president a negative rating of 77 percent on the economy, which is higher than any other age group.
Democrats are essentially split on the president’s handling of the economy, with 51 percent approving and 49 percent disapproving.
In addition, 69 percent of respondents rate the job market in their region of the country as bad, a perception that largely hasn’t changed in over a year.
The poll suggests that Democrats will not do well in November’s elections.
“These new Harris Poll results add weight to the expectation that the Republicans will do extremely well in this November’s elections, not because the public is enthusiastic about the GOP, but because [voters] will vote to express their anger and frustration at the poor state of the economy and this administration’s failure to create more jobs,” a release on the poll states.
Harris tapped the opinions of 2,620 adults between Sept. 14-20. Additional information on the poll can be found at www.harrisinteractive.com.
